Visionary Philanthropist Award

Senator Johnny Isakson congratulates Earl Smith, 2007 Visionary Philanthropist. Left to right: Jim Rhoden, the Honorable Johnny Isakson, Earl Smith, Doug Chaffins, 2007 CCF Board chair.

The 2007 recipient was Earl Smith, an extraordinary visionary, former Cobb Commission Chair, and community leader who has worked tirelessly for many years on Cobb’s Arts, Education, and community projects. He is responsible for many of the landmark accomplishments in Cobb County such as the first comprehensive land use plan, the new Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center, and the renovation of the Strand Theatre.

As the Marietta Daily Journal stated, “Earl has dedicated himself to the people of this community, and he has never been concerned with taking credit or receiving praise for his contributions, but it’s time to honor and thank a man who so effectively and unselfishly enhanced this county.” The Cobb Community Foundation certainly agrees!
